Dinner Club ”Home for the Holidays”

This is an update on the proposed charity gala. Please read this note in it’s entirety.

First and foremost, thank you to all who responded to our “Urgent Request for Input’
regarding this year’s proposed charity gala. Your feedback was most appreciated and taken to heart.

Based on member feedback as well as on concerns related to the current economy, the Charity Committee and the CPWC Board have decided that the current plans for the proposed charity gala will not go forward.

Please stay tuned as we proceed with our planning for this year’s event. We are working toward finalizing plans for a charity event with a different venue and a fresh new theme that will be entertaining, enjoyable, and most importantly, supportive of this year’s proceeds benefactor, McFarlane Park.

The Charity Committee Planning Meeting that was scheduled to be held at 7pm, Tuesday, December 9 at the home of Linda Pace will be postponed and rescheduled for sometime soon after the winter holidays. Please watch for announcements of this new date and time for this meeting.

November:   “Holiday Décor” – Bring a container or two or three & we’ll all plant holiday bulbs including Paper whites, Amaryllis, Daffodils, etc. for our personal homes, or as holiday gifts.  Planting guidance will be provided along with growing tips.  Prepare to get dirty (bring an apron?) & productive, while having lots of fun!

December:  “Tabletop Décor” – Learn how indoor plants make your home more beautiful.  We’ll have a demonstration on potting techniques plus on the care of specialty plants such as Orchids.

January:   “Specialty Gardens” – Learn plus share your knowledge of Butterfly, Moonlight, Hummingbird gardens & more!

February:  “Gardening Successfully In Drought Conditions” – Choosing drought tolerant plants plus smart planting/mulching/rain barrel techniques  (at Susan Weinstein’s home).  Susan will share her knowledge of rain barrels plus (weather permitting) give us a tour of her garden (dress appropriately).  Lynn will provide a list of drought tolerant plants, plus planting techniques.

March:  “Organic Vegetable & Herb Gardening” – Find out what Janet has learned and how her new garden grows. (at Janet Francesconi’s home).

April:   CPWC Pond/Waterfall tour, complete with Koi.  Touring CPWC gardens.  There are many lovely gardens in ACC, we’ll tour 5 or more.  Bring your camera.

May:  “Spring” Garden Party “Closing” Luncheon, plus plant exchange (at Lynn Beck’s home).
